Greetings, folks! Do you know what I love? Objects. I love when they are old and shiny and remind me of a time long gone. And boy, do I have a treat for you today! I found this wondrous place on the internet, called Royal Ontario Museum. It's situated in Toronto, which is in the province of Ontario, in Canada. That's right, we're going international, baby!
The beauty of this museum is indescribable. Just look at the picture above, it's like walking into a palace, only the rulers of this place are the objects in it. Inside you can find everything you could ever imagine: from old bones to jewellery, from stuffed animals to ancient writings.
One of my favourite exhibits is the Egypt one. Yes, you heard me right, the entire Egypt! And what's even better, they even have a mummy inside! Just imagine walking around and then boom! There's a dead person in front of you. That's a story to tell to your grandchildren.
Another exhibit that caught my attention is the dinosaurs one. Yes, they have bones of actual dinosaurs in there! Now, I've seen a lot of movies, but seeing an actual dinosaur bone is mind-blowing. Those creatures really did exist and now I can prove it to all of my friends.
What's even better, is that Royal Ontario Museum has a CIBC Discovery Gallery. It's a place where children can learn and have fun at the same time. They can play with puzzles, look at bugs and other small creatures. Isn't this amazing? No longer will you have to drag your kids into boring museums where they cry and want to go home.
Now, let's have a short history lesson. Royal Ontario Museum was founded in 1912, which means it's over a hundred years old! Oh, how I would love to get my hands on some of the objects that have been there since its opening. It was initially called the Museum of Natural History but later changed its name to its current one. The architecture is breathtaking and reflects the era it was built-in. So, if you're a history buff, this museum will leave you in awe.
Moving on to the address, which is just as impressive as the museum. It is situated on 100 Queen's Park, which is a prime location in Toronto. The easiest way to get there is by public transportation, just hop on the subway Line 1 (the yellow line) and exit at the Museum stop. And voila, you're there! You can't miss it, the building is enormous and stands out among all the other buildings.
Lastly, let's answer some frequently asked questions. Do I need to book a ticket in advance? No, you do not have to book a ticket in advance, but due to Covid restrictions, the number of people allowed inside the museum is limited. So, be sure to check the website before going to make sure there is enough space for you. What are the working hours? The museum is open every day except for Christmas and New Year's Day. On Mondays, they're open from 10 am to 5:30 pm, from Tuesday to Thursday from 10 am to 8:30 pm and from Friday to Sunday from 10 am to 5:30 pm. What is the price of the ticket? The regular adult ticket is $23, with discounts for students, seniors and children.
